I came aboard the USS America when in Norfolk, Va. Cruised into Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where we were in Drydock for refitting. I was in S-2 Division, Commisaryman 3rd Class. I respect and admire all who were aboard, all veterans, and everyone I met and had aquaintences with. I did it all wrong, way back then, however I do and did respect all that I came in contact with. Mentally, I couldn't stay where I was. Maybe if we'd have gone right out to Sea, I would have done better. For my wrongness, I appologize. For my love and honor of all Active and Veterans, I do share. I'm now an active member of The American Legion, Post # 110, Pt.Charlotte, FL. and 2nd Vice-Commander as well.
